If the dizzying array of smartphone apps that will deliver everything from dinner to toilet paper weren’t already enough, Postmates has officially launched a new service that will deliver beer directly to lazy drinkers everywhere.
The app’s new booze delivery service debuts today in Dallas, after roll-outs earlier in the year in California, Florida, and New York. In addition to restaurant and grocery delivery, Drinks will offer a selection of beers that can be delivered directly to the door in less than half an hour. The service doesn’t currently include wine or spirits, but will offer a “wide collection” of beer, including Texas brews like Shiner and Saint Arnold.
Postmates isn’t the first smartphone app to offer on-demand booze delivery in Dallas, but it is the only one that will focus only on beer. In 2015, LASH Delivery launched in the city and has since expanded to nearly a dozen nearby suburbs. A similar app called Minibar has operated in Dallas since 2014, and others, including Drizly, offer delivery in some local zip codes. Unlike Postmates, all of these services also deliver wine, spirits, and mixers.
Sadly, it doesn’t appear that users will be able to place an order for dinner and brews at the same time, and Postmates hasn’t indicated that it has plans to add a broader range of spirits in the near future.
