When the State Fair of Texas kicks off on September 30, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs will reward fairgoers for 75 years of devotion with perfectly deep-fried, totally free corny dogs.
In celebration of its 75th anniversary of slinging battered hot dogs at the State Fair of Texas, Fletcher’s will give away free Fletcher’s Original Corny Dog to the first 75 lucky customers at each of the seven Fletcher’s Corny Dog stands inside Fair Park. Veggie Corny Dogs, Turkey Dogs, and Jalapeno Cheese Corny Dogs aren’t included, but there’s no denying the appeal of kicking off a visit to the Fair with a freebie.
It’s a bittersweet year for the Fletcher’s family. While celebrating its 75th anniversary, the State Fair icon will also kick off its first season without patriarch Neil “Skip” Fletcher, Jr., who died in January after a protracted battle with pneumonia. Fletcher had been in charge of the company since 1980, when he took over from his father (and Fletcher’s co-founder) Neil Fletcher.
The Fletcher’s freebie will be available on the opening day of the State Fair of Texas, along with each Friday through the Fair’s conclusion on October 22.
