Adding to the long list of dining options at Toyota Music Factory, Top Round is bringing elevated fast food to the Irving music destination next month.
The restaurant at 310 W Las Colinas Blvd specializes in roast beef and fried chicken sandwiches and hand-cut fries, and harkens back to fast food joints of the 1950s with its bright orange, red, and white jet-age Googie architecture. The 2,400 square-foot space seats 80 and includes both indoor and outdoor patio seating. And like any typical fast food joint, guests will walk-up to the counter to place their orders.
The roast beef is slow roasted for up to 10 hours and served on buttery buns (gluten free is available too), while chicken is marinated in buttermilk and pickle juice before being battered and fried. Mouthwatering menu options include the Horse & Hole with roast beef, horseradish cream, roasted mushrooms, and Provel cheese, and the Chicken “Cali” with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and ranch dressing. Beef-fat-fried curly fries and custard soft-serve ice cream accent the menu offerings, and Top Round also features breakfast items like egg-filled burritos, and roast beef and egg topped bagels.
Launched in Southern California five years ago by Chef Fretz and his team, Top Round is quickly expanding into Dallas, San Francisco, and Louisville. Fretz is an industry veteran, having spent much of his career in fine dining at Fifth Floor in San Francisco and as executive chef of Michael Mina’s XIV in Los Angeles, where he won Angeleno Magazine’s “Best New Chef” award. Prior to joining Top Round full time, Fretz served as corporate executive chef for the Mina Group and as executive chef of the Church Key in LA.
“I’m very excited about the growth of Top Round in Dallas, and about our partnership with franchisee Jason Napolitan,” said Chef Fretz in a statement. “Irving is a natural home for Top Round – there’s no question that Texans love delicious food made with quality ingredients.”
Top Round plans to open February 1 and will operate Sunday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday, until 11 p.m.
