After more than a decade in its current home, City Tavern is moving to a brand new location.
The popular Downtown bar is set to move to 1512 Elm Street, inside the newly redeveloped Mid Elm Lofts, announces a press release. The bar will occupy just over 1,800 square feet inside its new home, where City Tavern will continue to offer the same live music and selection of craft local brews that its Downtown regulars have grown accustomed to. No word yet on whether or not the annual chili competition will continue, but it’s safe to say that tradition will likely stick around.
“City Tavern has been an important part of the Downtown Dallas community for the past 12 years,” City Tavern owner Joshua Florence said in a statement. “We’re excited to have a long-term lease that will ensure we’ll be a part of this community for many years to come.”
City Tavern is expected to open on Elm Street on June 1. Eater has reached out to the bar for more information on when (or whether) it will close in advance of the big move.
