It’s going to serve booze into the wee hours too

A new late-night pizza spot is coming to Uptown courtesy of the minds behind Village Burger Bar, El Fenix, Meso Maya, and more.

The spot, appropriately named Uptown Pizza, will debut at 1845 Woodall Rodgers Freeway according to an application made with TABC for a late night mixed beverage permit. It will be located inside the same building that houses Village Burger Bar across from Klyde Warren Park.

The manager listed on the filings is Michael Karns, CEO of Firebird Restaurant Group, which operates the aforementioned eateries along with Tortaco, Snuffers, and Taqueria La Ventana. No word yet if this new concept is under the Firebird umbrella or a spinoff company from Karns himself. He and his wife open their newest concept Tulum this week independent of Firebird, which promises to be nothing like the Tex-Mex-slinging eateries in the restaurant group’s arsenal.

Karns notified Eater that Uptown Pizza is indeed coming... eventually. No opening date has been set and construction has yet to begin. Stay tuned for more information on when he thinks it will debut.
