Deep Ellum is quickly becoming a vegan hotspot. On the heels of Oliver Peck’s new vegan-friendly destination debuting on Elm, a vegan bakery just opened its doors nearby.
Sugar Fang, from the team behind Bowls & Tacos and Braindead Brewing, just debuted in Bowls & Tacos space at 3400 Commerce Street, reports CultureMap. The bakery specializes in baked goods that are free from animal products like its signature “skullette” cakes. The dairy-free calaveras come in flavors like lavender lemon with a lemon curd filling or vanilla filled with prickly pear jam, topped with a cinnamon-ancho buttercream.
According to CultureMap, the calaveras are joined by an assortment of baked goods like pies, cupcakes, muffins, and pastries from Malikei Hetherington, who has already been supplying Braindead with his vegan treats after moving to Dallas from the West Coast where he cut his teeth in vegan bakeries.
Sugar Fang operates from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with baked goods and coffee on deck, which will supplement Bowls & Tacos breakfast offerings.
