Don’t expect to find plain old vanilla at new Bishop Arts District shop YaYa Yogurt. Tex-Mex-influenced flavors like cinnamon and lavender-accented Veracruz vanilla are on tap at the dessert destination, which opened over the weekend.

The owners made a big claim on Yaya Yogurt’s Yelp page: “YaYa Best Tex Mex Yogurt is the only frozen yogurt store in existence that makes speciality yogurt based on the unique combined flavors of Mexico and Texas.” That means fro-yo fans will find flavors like tamarind, chamoy passion, strawberry hibiscus, jalapeño, and chocolate Abuelita (or Mexican hot chocolate). Flavors are housed in high-tech yogurt machines, and toppings include fruit or Tex-Mex-inspired flavors like a spin on Mexican rice pudding.

YaYa Yogurt is located at 408 North Bishop Avenue,Suite 104 and it’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends.
