Next year, Plano skewered meats spot Fat Ni BBQ will open its second DFW location in Carrollton.

A job posting on Fat Ni BBQ’s website indicates that it will open at 2528 Old Denton Road, behind the giant development that houses 99 Ranch Supermarket. The first outpost opened at 2001 Coit Road in Plano in 2016, and is a spinoff of owner Guiqiao Chen’s successful chain of food trucks in New York City.

For Dallasites who haven’t made the trip to Fat Ni in Plano, the restaurant specializes in Beijing-style street food, and meats on sticks dominate the menu. The proteins range from chicken hearts to lamb tendon and pork belly, and a bounty of skewered vegetables is also on offer. The restaurant also makes its own spicy chicken and cumin lamb noodles daily. It’s a haven for budget-conscious diners, with each skewer priced between $1.50 and $2. There are some exceptions, though, like the lamb testicle and lobster tail skewers.

Fat Ni BBQ is expected to debut in Carrollton in January 2019. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
