Baton Rouge-based Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar is moving into the Dallas-Fort Worth area: the sports bar is set to break ground in Irving in the beginning of March.
The chain is a family-friendly sports bar with Louisiana flair, with menu items like duck and andouille gumbo, etouffee, bread pudding, and cajun quesadillas. There’s another major Louisiana connection: New Orleans Saints superstar Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, bought in as co-owners in May 2015.
Walk-on’s already boasts 17 locations, with many Louisiana outposts and restaurants in Lubbock, San Antonio and Tyler, Texas. The chain’s been expanding rapidly in the past few years, and Texas is in Walk-On’s plans for more restaurants.
The 8,500-square-foot restaurant in Irving is slated to open in October, and will employ about 150 workers.
