The popular Mediterranean eatery, Cafe Izmir, which operates locations in Downtown and on Lower Greenville just shuttered its third outpost in Plano over the weekend.
In a statement provided to Eater, the restaurant said it couldn’t “overcome the challenges” of running its business in a larger space. The Plano location was much more expansive than the restaurant’s other cozier outposts, and there just weren’t enough folks to fill all those seats when push came to shove.
“Despite our best efforts, we could not overcome the challenges of operating in a large restaurant space,” reads the statement in part. “In an effort to go back to our roots and core identity, we made the very difficult and sad decision to close the Plano store and operate in smaller, more intimate setting.”
Cafe Izmir’s last day of service in Plano was this past Saturday, April 7. Fortunately, diners can still find the mezze, tapas, and kabobs that have made the restaurant a local favorite at its other two locations.
