After five years of slinging candy-topped cupcakes, Trailercakes will close its Knox Avenue bakery this weekend.
The beloved bakery announced its impending shutter on its Instagram account, saying that it had lost the lease on its location at 3001 Knox Street. Fortunately for cupcake enthusiasts, it looks as if the shop is already plotting a new location, though it hasn’t announced an address just yet.
When they opened the shop, co-owners Heather Zidell and Leora Azoulay Lesh found inspiration in a 1965 Airstream trailer won on eBay, named Bubbles. After slinging cupcakes from Bubbles and opening a shop in Richardson, the Knox location opened and earned a crowd of regulars dedicated to flavors like the Cookie Monster, a white cupcake with Oreo crust and frosting.
Trailercakes will close its doors on Sunday, May 27. The shop has vowed to make a comeback soon, and Eater has reached out for more details on when Trailercakes will make its triumphant return.
