Shayna’s Place, a Sandwich Shop with a Mission, Will Open at Sylvan Thirty

The chain provides employment opportunities for people with special needs

Sylvan’s Place

A new cafe is coming to Sylvan Thirty with classic Italian subs and a mission to help the Dallas community. Rhode Island-based sandwich shop Shayna’s Place will open next to CiboDivino Marketplace in late summer. The family-owned and operated cafe provides employment opportunities for people with special needs.

“From the moment I decided to expand the family business, I was set on making Sylvan | Thirty its home because of the development’s family feel,” owner Lou Olerio said in a press release. “The area’s residents appreciate the vibe of a unique family business versus walking into another chain restaurant even if it’s just for a quick bite to eat.” Olerio’s business is inspired by his cousin Shayna, who has Down Syndrome.

Shayna’s Place will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, including sandwiches, salads, smoothies, pastries and juices, and drinks like coffee, soda, wine and beer.

Check out the menu of the chain’s Rhode Island location here. Just FYI, the grinder with prosciutto di parma, salami, capicola, sharp provolone, tomatoes, hot peppers, and special dressing once placed first in a Rhode Island grinder competition.
