Beard Papa’s, a massive Japanese chain known for its cream puffs and other sweet pastries, will open its first DFW location in Frisco.

A Facebook page created for the outpost at 9292 Warren Parkway announces that it will open in the Frisco Ranch development in the coming months. That forthcoming development will soon become a suburban destination for desserts — 85C Bakery Cafe is already open in the development, and a marketing brochure for Frisco Ranch indicates that Swirl Crepe Cafe and Kung Fu Tea will arrive soon.

For folks unfamiliar with Beard Papa’s, the chain was founded in Japan in 1999, and has since expanded to more than 500 locations in the U.S. and beyond. According to Eater Houston, Beard Papa‘s has earned a devoted following in Japan and beyond for its freshly-baked, custard-filled cream puffs in flavors like green tea, chocolate, and honey butter. The chain has even earned praise from the late, great Anthony Bourdain, who described its pastries as “righteous.”

Frisco is the second Texas location in the works — according to Eater Houston, a location is is expected to open in the Houston suburbs later this summer. No opening timeline for Beard Papa’s Frisco location has been announced just yet, stay tuned for more details.
