Beloved Dallas eatery for hotdogs and frozen custard Wild About Harry’s will reopen its former Knox-Henderson outpost in a new spot several blocks away from the original.
Wild About Harry’s is set to debut July 1 at 4527 Travis Street thanks to its new landlord, The Retail Connection, which recently acquired a substantial portion of the Knox District. The landlord “felt strongly that the beloved hot dog and custard shop must go on,” according to a press release, and provided a “temporary space” on Travis Street.
When owner Sydney Coley-Berglund heard of the Travis Street opening, she says, “It was a no brainer,” channeling how her dad, founder Harry Coley, would have reacted. “We have been blessed with so much support from our customers and neighborhood friends. Come join us at our new location, with plenty of parking and the same family-friendly atmosphere that Harry always loved.”
Back in April, fans of the hotdog purveyor were outraged when Harry’s former landlord ousted the 22-year Knox Street veteran for allegedly failing to comply with city code. Its Deep Ellum outpost remained open throughout the ordeal. Now, longtime customers of the original location will have a chance to grab Harry’s all-American fare in time for July 4th.
Eater has reached out to Wild About Harry’s to determine whether the new location is, in fact, “temporary,” or if it will become the eatery’s new permanent address. Stay tuned as that info becomes available.
