A new honky tonk called Mama Tried is coming to Deep Ellum from the nightlife mogul behind Beauty Bar, Barcadia, and It’ll Do Club.

The bar will debut at 215 Henry Street in the next week, reports CultureMap, and will bring with it a Nashville-style tavern full of live music including classic country, bluegrass, and “outlaw” acts, among other genres. The bar will also be home to events like live band karaoke and line dancing, according to proprietor Brooke Humphries, who owns the popular nightlife hotspots along with Mudsmith and Pints & Quarts.

Humphries’ new project features both indoor and outdoor stages set amongst 5,500 square feet of interior space and another 7,500 square feet of patio space. The patio will boast its own bar — inside a 40-foot shipping container — to complement the 80-foot-long indoor bar made of sunken cypress.

Roe DiLeo, formerly a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen and chef at Henry’s Majestic, will lead the culinary efforts in Humphries’ new space with a Texas-themed menu including collard greens, mac and cheese, and our state fair staple — turkey legs. Brunch will also be on offer, and diners can take advantage of a live music back drop during brunch service on weekends.

No official opening date has been set just yet for Mama Tried. Stay tuned for more details.
