Yesterday was the official opening day for R&B, the fast-casual bao and ramen spot next door to Fine China on the ground floor of The Statler Hbotel. Executive Chef Angela Hernandez and Chef de Cuisine Josh Bonee’s straightforward menu includes seven takes on bao (Chinese steamed buns filled with meat and or vegetables) and four different kinds of ramen.
That means diners can pair “cheesebao-gers” topped with onion jam, American cheese, and bread & butter pickles with a bowl of chilled tomato mazemen. Or edamame falafel bao with jalapeno hummus, cucumber, pickled red onion, and sriracha yogurt alongside chicken tskune ramen with meatballs, kale, and corn.
The Statler is located at 1914 Commerce Street, and R&B is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and then open very late on Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
