There’s construction going on already in the space that previously housed Deep Ellum’s coffee and cocktail bar Drugstore Cowboy. Last week, news broke that Drugstore Cowboy at 2721 Main Street shuttered after “complications and difficulties” reportedly prevented the bar from renewing its liquor license, along with the possibility that a new bar or restaurant was ready to move in soon.
Now CultureMap reports that new retro-themed bar The Crowdus is slated to open in later summer or stretching into early fall. The Crowdus is from Braxton Martin, Corey Good, and Justus Pinkston, who are responsible for the 1920s-themed barbershop that includes a bar High & Tight down the street. The trio is totally redo-ing the inside, taking the space down to the studs, to build it back up as a 1970s’/1980’s-themed neighborhood spot with “daiquiris at awesome prices,” according to CultureMap’s interview with Martin.
