Beard Papa’s, the Japanese bakery chain known for its light, custard-filled cream puffs, is finally ready to debut in DFW.
The chain’s Plano location at 2301 North Central Expressway is set to officially kick open the doors later this week, according to an update on its Facebook page. The Plano outpost is the first of two DFW locations planned for Beard Papa’s at present — the second, in Frisco, was originally expected to open this year but won’t debut until early 2019 thanks to construction delays on its space at Frisco Ranch.
Founded in 1999 in Osaka, Japan, the global bakery currently operates upwards of 500 locations in the United States and beyond. The cream puffs at Beard Papa’s are unique — the traditional choux pastry shell is wrapped in pie crust, then filled with custard or ice cream and glazed. The puffs are available in flavors like matcha, chocolate, strawberry, and honey-butter.
Beard Papa’s Plano officially arrives on October 21.
