Even inside the city limits, it’s hard to keep up with the dizzying number of restaurants that open in Dallas on a daily basis. When it comes to the DFW metroplex’s sprawling suburbs, though, staying on top of the area’s newest restaurant openings is even more difficult.
In this occasional round-up, Eater editors highlight hot new openings in the ‘burbs that can serve as new neighborhood dining destinations or restaurants that are decidedly worth the drive.
Sabaidee Lao & Thai Cuisine
This weekend, beloved Dallas Laotian restaurant Sabaidee will open its second outpost in Rowlett at 5701 President George Bush Highway, Suite 100. Known for its take on traditional Laotian and Thai street food dishes, diners will find excellent tom yum soup, chicken larb, crispy fried wings and riblets, warm curries, and so much more. Pro-tip: during opening weekend, Sabaidee will be BYOB.
Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen
Garland’s Firewheel Town Center will soon be home to Ferah’s Tex-Med Kitchen, a Mediterranean restaurant with a touch of Texas flair. The menu will offer everything from mezze to burgers topped with barbecue sauce, along with wines from vineyards in Texas and the Mediterranean. No official opening date has been set, but expect for Ferah to arrive sometime in “early 2019.”
The Donut Kitchen
At the end of 2018, The Donut Kitchen quietly made its debut in Downtown McKinney, according to CultureMap. Make the drive north for dozens of different doughnut flavors — more than 30 are on offer on the weekends — like key lime pie, Nutella crunch, caramel-coconut, and maple bacon. After chowing down on doughnuts, walk off the impending carb nap by browsing the Square’s adorable boutiques.
