Knox-Henderson Bar Whippersnapper is Now A Temporary Haunt For Family Guy Fanatics

It got an overhaul to make it look like the bar in the show

After 17 seasons, you’d think inane animated comedy Family Guy had lost some of its luster, but not at this Knox-Henderson watering hole which has completely transformed into a replica of the animated sitcom’s beloved bar.

Whippersnapper at 1806 McMillan Avenue has undergone an interior overhaul (or strip-down) to make it look like the The Drunken Clam, which means removing everything that was aesthetically pleasing about the establishment — including its lively artwork, twinkle lights, and collection of disco balls — and replacing it with bare-bones brick walls, red booths, and green wood cladding for the month of January. Apparently, even the facade got the Drunken Clam treatment, and drinks will be on-theme. Here’s hoping at least the pool table stays in-tact.

The switcheroo is most likely preparation for the bar’s longterm interior renovation set to take place after the pop-up closes on February 2. The Whippersnapper’s new look will debut alongside the bar’s three-year anniversary at the end of February. “We have some exciting plans for The Whip moving forward, but we thought we’d have a little fun first by bringing The Drunken Clam to Dallas,” said Brandon Hays, This & That co-owner, which is also responsible for spots like High Fives, Tiny Victories, Ferris Wheelers, and newly launched Dibs on Victory.

The Drunken Clam pop-up will operate January 4 to February 2, Wednesday through Saturday 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
