A Former Gas Station in Mansfield Is Now a Source for Beers and Tacos

By the Horns Brewing from restaurateur Jason Boso opened this month

Restaurateur Jason Boso’s anticipated foray into beer is here with the opening of By the Horns Brewing in Mansfield. Boso, who is known for popular spots like Twisted Root Burger Company and Truck Yard, opened his new brewery in March in what was once an old gas station. In fact, the retro gas pumps and a rusted truck are still sitting outside for ambiance.

Now, the 4,000-square-foot space is home to By the Horns, an indoor/outdoor brewery and restaurant with a pet-friendly backyard stocked with picnic tables. Brewmaster Justin Meyers, who once worked at New York’s Paulaner Brewhouse, dreamed up the five German-style brews drinkers will find here. There’s a Helles Lager, a New England-style IPA, a Pale Ale, a Hefeweizen, a Brown Ale and an Agave IPA, and By the Horns will serve these beers individually, in flights, or in growler pours. Brewery tours will also be available, and the backyard will host live music starting today as well.

It’s not just beers on the menu: the brewery’s restaurant Tacos & Avocados serves up tacos with tortillas made in house. Pile on toppings like rotisserie pork and chicken, beer-braised brisket, shrimp, and chorizo. Or opt for tostadas or fresh guacamole.

By the Horns Brewing is located at 109 South Main Street in Mansfield, and the hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to midnight Thursday through Saturday.
