Vegan tacos are en route to North Dallas

After co-founding Pleasant Grove vegan taco destination El Palote Panaderia, owners Nuno and Vezna Arias have plans for a new restaurant in North Dallas. According to CultureMap, Nuno’s Tacos & VegMex Grill is set to arrive on July 25 at 8024 Spring Valley Road, and it’s going to be 100% vegan. Diners can look forward to dishes like vegan nachos, tacos stuffed with chipotle-spiced jackfruit and roasted poblano rajas, and creative wraps stuffed with mac and “cheese.”

Tim Byres out at Flora Street Cafe

Former Smoke chef Tim Byres has parted ways with Stephan Pyles less than a year after taking the reins at Stephan Pyles’s Flora Street Cafe, the chef has officially vacated his post. According to GuideLive, Byres plans to focus on consulting now that he’s no longer at the helm of the Arts District restaurant, but didn’t disclose why the partnership with Pyles ended so quickly. Obviously, this wasn’t a match made in heaven.

Dallas chefs organize benefit for fellow chef in need

This weekend, about a dozen of Dallas’s best chefs will take over the event space at 3015 Trinity Groves to raise funds forJosh Bonee, a fellow restaurant industry professional that was recently diagnosed with a serious illness. Josh Harmon, Misti Norris, and Anastacia Quinones, all Eater Dallas chef of the year winners, are among the participants, along with dessert geniuses Samantha Rush (Rush Patisserie) and Tida Pinkerton (Haute Sweets). Tickets for the event, set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., are $75 each.
