Beloved Oak Cliff Mexican Restaurant Mesa Will Shutter

Even Beyonce loved it

This weekend will be the last for Oak Cliff Mexican restaurant Mesa, which plans to close its doors after eight years in the neighborhood.

Mesa’s imminent closure was announced on its Facebook page late Monday night, much to the chagrin of enchilada lovers everywhere. “Chef Raul and chef Olga thank all our Mesa restaurant customers who faithfully supported the typical Veracruz cuisine for 8 years,” the statement reads in part. “We will have specials to say goodbye to our clients as they deserve it. Thanks again for your unconditional support.”

The restaurant was thrust into the spotlight in 2013, when Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z dined at Mesa. Since then, it’s earned a cult following in the city, and has been a stalwart of Eater’s 38 and Mexican cuisine maps. Even though the Dallas outpost of Mesa will shutter, it appears that the Grapevine restaurant will not be impacted by that closure. Owner Raul Reyes will continue to maintain a presence in Oak Cliff with Ceviche Oyster Bar, his recently opened raw seafood spot.

Diners can score their last plates at Mesa this weekend. The restaurant will open for its final services on September 16 and September 17.
