Taco cones take home the win at 2019 Big Tex Choice Awards
At this weekend’s Big Tex Choice Awards, Ruth’s Stuffed Fried Taco Cone took home the win in the Best Taste - Savory category. According to a press release, the barbacoa-stuffed, deep-fried taco innovation shared the spotlight with the Big Red Chicken Bread, a doughnut glazed with Big Red icing and topped with a chicken wing, which won in the Best Taste - Sweet category. This year’s Most Creative entry was the Fla’Mango Tango, a deep-fried “creamy mango twist” that’s glazed with citrus and served with strawberry-mango sorbet.
12 new restaurants are en route to the Village
As part of a major revamp of sprawling apartment complex the Village, a dozen new restaurants are currently in the works. Chef Junior Borges, formerly of Uchi and Headington Hospitality, will serve as executive chef at the development along with helming a “chef-driven restaurant.” No additional details on the restaurants have been released as of yet.
A permanent home for a popular waffle truck is in the works
Waffle O’Licious, known for its sweet and savory Belgian waffles, will open a permanent location in Richardson. According to CultureMap, the waffle destination will take over the space at 141 North Plano Road, formerly occupied by OMG Tacos. When it debuts in September, look forward to waffles topped with everything from Philly cheesesteak fixings to fruit.
