An Arlington-born cheesesteak shop known for its meaty, melty sandwiches — and subbing in lettuce for bread for keto diet followers —is close to opening in Carrollton.

Signage is up for S&S Cheesesteaks at 3044 Old Denton Road, and construction is almost complete. The owner tells Eater that S&S hopes to open by the end of next week, pending final permit approvals. The two-year-old cheesy brand formerly operated out of another Carrollton space last year, about two miles West off Frankford Road, but had to relocate.

Its chosen neighborhood has quickly risen as one of Dallas’s buzziest dining areas, graduating from its boring strip mall reputation thanks to a growing diverse population.

Despite its quirky carb-free offering, which can be requested for its cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches, and burgers, there’s plenty of calories to go around. Along with traditional Philly-style cheesesteaks with bread and all the fix-ins, its most recent menu iteration featured triple-patty burgers, loaded fries, tots, and onion rings.

Cheesesteaks come in “regular” or “Texas” (read: large) sizes.
