A Bar Serving Spanish Snacks on Sticks Will Soon Open in the Bishop Arts District

A new Spanish eatery in the works for the Bishop Arts District

Signage is up at 321 North Zang Boulevard for Sketches of Spain, a new Bishop Arts District restaurant that takes its name from a 1960 Miles Davis album. Details on the project are scant as of yet, but a brief description indicates that it will be a destination for pintxos, or small snacks that are most frequently served on skewers. Javier Garcia del Moral, co-owner of nearby bookstore The Wild Detectives is involved in the project, but was not able to provide further comment on the project by press time. La Tarte Tropézienne sets its sights on Dallas

Downtown Dallas will house Texas’s first outpost of famed French bakery La Tarte Tropézienne. According to CultureMap, construction just began on the Saint-Tropez-based bakery’s location at 1604 Main Street, adjacent to the Joule Hotel. No opening timeline has been set just yet, but when it arrives, expect classic Viennoiserie, breads, sandwiches, and the crème Tropézienne, a decadent treat on brioche with two types of cream and pearl sugar on top. The Dallas location of this bakery will be the very first establishment worldwide to open outside of France.

Rabbit Hole Brewing bows out

After six years in tiny, far-flung Fort Worth suburb Justin, Rabbit Hole Brewing is closing its doors this week. Per a statement posted to the Rabbit Hole Brewing website, the brewery will “cease operations” on Friday, September 6, with plans to have a farewell party that weekend and the next, complete with discounted beers on draft and available for to-go purchase. “It’s been a wild ride and it would not have been the same without our friends and colleagues,” the brewery said. “We have built a family in the craft beer community and we will miss everybody dearly.”

Update: This post has been update to properly reflect the name of La Tarte Tropézienne and the ingredients in the crème Tropézienne.
