Acclaimed barbecue spot Flores Barbecue’s time in Fort Worth turned out to be short-lived. Earlier this year, owner/pitmaster Michael Wyont relocated his operation from Hill County town Whitney to a truck at the Trailhead at Clearfork development — and now Texas Monthly reports that Wyont is about to relocate again.
“The big city I don’t think is for me,” Wyont told Texas Monthly. He’s taking the Flores Barbecue name with him, but similar Tex-Mex barbecue will continue in the same spot under a new name of Campo Smokehouse. Pitmaster John Willems will stay on at Campo, which hopes to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant in 2020.
The Flores Barbecue instagram just posted yesterday with the message: “Hey y’all, we will still be operating @thetrailheadfw while we go through this transitionary period. You can still get the same great bbq! Open Thursday-Sunday 11am-4pm. 4801 Edwards Ranch rd. Fort Worth. (817)791-5048”
