Great news for Dallas fans of Heim Barbecue & Catering who already line up in Fort Worth for bacon burnt ends and brisket: the barbecue restaurant will open its first location in Dallas this year.

CBRE announced today that the Fort Worth icon is slated to open its third location at 3130 W. Mockingbird Lane in June 2020. It’s going into a barn-like, freestanding building at the main entrance to Love Field at Mockingbird Lane and Cedar Springs, which means it’s close to communities like Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow, and Bluffview.

Husband-and-wife duo Travis and Emma Heim opened a popular food truck, which turned into a restaurant on Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth in 2016, and then a second larger location called “Heim on the River” in West Fort Worth’s River District in 2019. Now Dallas is in the Heims’ sights with this new outpost.

“Emma and I opened our food truck 5 years ago with $100 to our names, praying that enough people would show up for us to be open the next day,” Travis Heim said in a press release. “We’re amazed every day by the amount of people who choose to visit our restaurants.”

“A lot of our guests live in the Dallas area and we’ve been interested in expanding, but never found a spot that felt right. As soon as we visited the Mockingbird space we knew this was a perfect fit.

CBRE’s Greg Pierce and Andrew Lehner with CBRE arranged the 5,082-square-foot lease on behalf of Heim Barbecue.
