In order to adjust and survive during unprecedented times, Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House just adopted a new identity as a discounted pick-up and delivery venture aptly named Good Citizen.
Normally packed with beer-drinking revelers on its patio, the 9-year-old East Dallas pioneer had no choice to but reinvent in the face of a Dallas dine-in ban. Even its website URL has changed into a PSA: http://www.socialdistancingnow.com/.
Prices across its quick new menu cater to the cash-strapped consumer at home. Comfort food sides ($4-$9) include mac and cheese, cheese fries, and potato soup. Sandwiches ($5.50-$8) include subs, bacon melts, grilled cheese, and its destination cheeseburger that sport a spicy beer pickle. Available for pickup and delivery daily, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“In an attempt to preserve our way of doing business and get back to the warm fuzzy feelings of community that we miss already, we have shifted the gears of commerce that we have available to us,” says co-owner Matt Tobin. He vows to make a comeback in Goodfriend’s original form after the dust settles (1154 Peavy Road).
No-contact ordering system lets customers pay and set up their delivery address online. Good Citizen will notify customers with a text message upon arrival.
