After a little more than three years of serving up matcha-spiked desserts in Plano, popular sweet shop Meccha Matcha has permanently called it quits.
The shop announced its impending departure in a Facebook post this week, noting that it would close its doors on Valentine’s Day. “Due to the impact of COVID-19 on our business and for many other reasons, we have decided not to renew our lease for the upcoming years,” the shop’s owners wrote on Facebook. “This was not an easy decision for us. For the past three years, our customers have driven miles from other cities, shared their stories with us on social media, and brought joy to us with each visit. For this, we are truly thankful. We never could have done it without your support.”
Even though the Plano shop is closing, the second DFW outpost of Meccha Matcha will remain open in Grand Prairie. There’s also a possibility that more locations could open in the future, once things settle after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. “We still hope to expand Meccha Matcha in the future at a new location, so this is only goodbye for now,” the post reads.
Meccha Matcha’s final day of business in Plano is February 14.
