Dolly Parton’s collaboration with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams debuts today
Strawberry Pretzel Pie, a new flavor from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams created in collaboration with country queen Dolly Parton, will officially arrive at the chain’s Deep Ellum scoop shop today. According to the chain, fans should plan to get there early — Jeni’s opens at noon — and expect a line. Proceeds from the sales of the ice cream will benefit Parton’s Imagination Library, which gifts free books to children from infancy to age 5.
Lucky’s Hot Chicken opens an outpost in Highland Park
Dallas-based hot chicken chain Lucky’s is just about ready to debut its second outpost at 6309 Hillcrest Avenue. According to a press release, the restaurant will open at 6309 Hillcrest Avenue on Monday, April 12, slinging super-spicy chicken tenders available at five different spice levels, sandwiches, and red velvet chicken and waffles.
Dallas Farmers Market restaurant Hurdy Gurdy permanently shutters
Short-lived eatery Hurdy Gurdy, which opened its doors at the Dallas Farmers Market in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, has closed its doors. According to CultureMap, the restaurant at 900 South Harwood Street bowed out in February, after closing for a “deep cleaning” after a COVID-19 case was identified in the restaurant. It never reopened, but a new, as-yet-unnamed restaurant will soon take over the space.
