Stand-up comedian George Lopez is the latest celebrity to announce plans for a ghost kitchen that will start delivering tacos via mobile delivery apps next month.
Lopez has teamed up with Nextbite, a virtual restaurant management company that operates ghost kitchens for celebrities like Wiz Khalifa, to open a delivery-only eatery called, appropriately, George Lopez Tacos. According to a press release, the recipes for the tacos were created by Lopez himself, including both the proteins that will be tucked into tortillas and the salsas served alongside.
Lopez, of course, isn’t the first celebrity to sashay into Dallas-Fort Worth with a ghost kitchen. The others, though, were operated by people who are actually chefs, including Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen and David Chang’s delivery-only fried chicken restaurant Fuku. Elsewhere, though, non-chef celebrities have opened ghost kitchens en masse, including a torta-focused ghost kitchen from Saved By The Bell actor Mario Lopez that opened in cities like Houston, and Gwyneth Paltrow in Los Angeles.
George Lopez Tacos will make its Dallas debut via delivery apps like UberEats and Grubhub on June 8.
