Just as the temperatures in Dallas start to rise, Deep Ellum’s Radiator Alley has scored a chilly new shaved ice stand.

The new purveyor of snow balls, called Shaved Balls of Ice, is the brainchild of Glazed Donut Works owner Darren Cameron. It will operate out of a to-go window at the back of Glazed’s home in Deep Ellum, slinging super fluffy snow cones until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. To develop the menu for the stand, Cameron headed to New Orleans, a city that’s famous for its “light, fluffy, snow-like” shaved ice.

“[I] wanted to have a product that almost everybody likes,” Cameron told Eater. “Something that could bring people together, and offer a little bit of nostalgia, too.”

The menu at Shaved Balls of Ice is divided into two sections. The first, called “Old School,” features classic snow cone stand flavors like tiger’s blood, bubblegum, and cherry. The “New School” side of the menu brings together fresh fruit purees, real whipped cream, ice cream, and sweetened condensed milk to create flavors like creamy guava, tres leches cake, and mango. There’s also the massive Pina Alotta, which features house-made pineapple and coconut syrups, vanilla ice cream and house-made whipped cream all served inside a pineapple, and the Bender Ender, a late-night mix that’s made with real oranges, cream, electrolyte-infused Pedialyte, and a B-12 gummy that will allegedly aid in recovery after a long night of drinking.

Right now, Shaved Balls of Ice is operating on weekends only throughout the summer, with plans to expand the hours as more and more partiers head to Deep Ellum for late nights of drunken revelry. Current hours are Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 10:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6:00 p.m. Pro-tip: the shop operates on a cashless basis.
