Reality TV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines went from fixing up old houses to running a massive lifestyle brand that includes perennially packed Waco restaurant Magnolia Table. Now the duo is getting into the ice cream business, via a collaboration with another Texas icon, Blue Bell Creameries.

Next weekend, Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Market at the Silos will host a Spring at the Silos festival with live music, vendors, and the debut of Blue Bell’s Magnolia ice cream collection. The Magnolia flavors that will roll out include Wacotown Vanilla, Jo’s Lemon Pie, S’mores at the Silos, Magnolia Press Chocolate Cake, and Chip’s Salted Caramel Truffle.

Dallas cocktail bar Alexandre’s ditches Russian vodka

As Eater reported, Dallas cocktail bar Alexandre’s in Oak Lawn is switching out Russian vodka for a Ukranian version of the spirit. Alexandre’s is among many bars across the country removing Russian booze in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Alexandre’s owner Lee Daugherty wrote on Instagram: “Alexandre’s also issues sanctions on Russia.” The bar also debuted a “Fuck Putin” shot, with blue and yellow layers that resemble the Ukrainian flag.

Alamo Drafthouse is closing in North Richland Hills

Even as a new Alamo Drafthouse outpost is on the way in DFW, an existing location of the artsy movie house and restaurant is shutting down. Culturemap Fort Worth reports that the North Richland Hills is closing permanently after shuttering for the pandemic and then never starting back up again.

Meatless chicken chain Project Pollo is now open in Dallas

It’s been a long wait, but Dallas showed up for the opening of a new outpost of the vegan chain Project Pollo. So many people flooded the soft opening that the restaurant had to take a couple days break to regroup. “Due to the amazing showing this weekend during our soft opening (thank you all so much!!), this is essential in order to give our team a chance to recoup and prepare for our grand opening this Saturday 3/5,” Project Pollo posted on Instagram.

The fast-casual spot serves its own vegan “chicken” in sandwiches, breaded and served with spicy sauces like Nashville Hot or garlic buffalo. There are chicken wraps too and sides like loaded potatoes with cashew queso, as well as milkshakes featuring Oatly oat milk soft-serve.
