There are two types of people in this world: people who always order dessert after dinner, and those that never do. Whether or not you frequently shell out cash for a sweet finish to your meal, there are some desserts that must not be skipped no matter how full you are.

Dallas has no shortage of great restaurants, and as such, there are plenty of excellent sweet treats across the city to accompany savory fare. Ranging from the sophisticated (a delicate floral soufflé) to the absolutely absurd (a kettlebell filled with cheesecake), these 11 restaurant desserts are definitely worth a try at least once.

Go forth, and make sure that you've tried these essential cakes, fried pies, and panna cottas. You'll probably want to act quickly, though, as the majority of these dishes will change (at least slightly) with the seasons.

Did your favorite dessert miss the cut? Make your case in the comments.

If red velvet is too classic for your taste, order the ridiculous rainbow cake, served with a side of cotton candy and topped with a pile of gummy bears.
Chef Danyele McPherson does desserts damn well at this Lower Greenville eatery. A selection of pies is ever-changing, but the coconut cream is a classic, and for good reason.
