Despite this year’s insane heat wave, those fireworks on the Fourth are going to happen outside. But those are only the tip of the iceberg (did that do anything to bring your temperature down?) when it comes to ways to celebrate the holiday over a long weekend.

We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite special deals, exciting events, and limited time bites to enjoy over Fourth of July weekend. Salute to the red, white, and blue, and to making every holiday a food holiday.

This Plano spot is offering its Seafood Bake Bucket featuring 5.5 pounds of fresh shrimp, mussels, clams, crab legs, potatoes, and corn for $99. Additional add ons of scallops and lobster tails are also available, at market prices. It’s will be closed on 4th, so call and place an order in advance to pickup.

For those who think fried chicken and the Fourth of July are the best combination, great news: Whistle Britches in North Dallas is celebrating its seventh anniversary with $7 specials July 1 through the 4th that will be announced that week.

Those heading to Kaboom Town in Addison on July 3 can also stop by Ida Claire’s Block Party, starting at 4 and going until 10 p.m. It promises food, live music, and a view of the Kaboom Town fireworks. It will be in the parking lot so pack extra sunscreen, and complimentary valet service is available with a reservation. There will be a $10 entry fee at the door is available with limited first come, first serve seating. As for what’s for dinner? Grilled chicken, glazed ribs, potato salad, grilled street corn, and mac and cheese, which go nicely with the restaurant’s Red, White, and Blue Frozen Flight with hurricanes, electric lemonades, and margaritas.

Nothing says Fourth of July like pie. The Porch has $1 slices of Lemon Meringue pie as well as

reverse happy hour specials that run every weekend from 10 p.m. to midnight. Those include $5 frose, $1 pony beers, $1 off draft beers, and $10 “Giddy Up,” which is a Miller High Life pony beer paired with a shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey. It will also give out free Fourth of July Jell-O shots to guests from Friday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 4.

The Libertine will hold a “Brass Knuckle Corndog Beatdown 2023” on the Fourth of July, and the competition starts at 7 p.m. Entry is free and contestants will have 15 minutes to down as many corn dogs as they can — the current record stands with  Nathan Biller who managed a whopping 26 of ‘em back in 2013. The winner will get a $100 gift card. Spectators are welcome also.

Drink the flag at The Rustic on the Fourth, from noon to 11 p.m. It is partnering with local breweries to donate beer to help complete our “beer flag” that will be sold for cash donations the day of the event. All of the proceeds from sales of pints off the flag (set at $5 per beer) will benefit local charities — and Tito’s is also donating $2,500 to each charity. If spending the Fourth drinking beer was the plan, do it for a few good causes.

Virgin is hosting Fourth Fest all weekend, with events on events on events — but of note is the Dancing Kweens drag brunch on Sunday, July 3. Reserve a table for the noon or 3 p.m. shows that include brunch, mimosas, and the show for $85 per person.
