Belly & Trumpet

Oak chef de cuisine Brian Zenner is wowing crowds nightly at this ultra-hot McKinney Avenue space boasting sexy decor, killer cocktails, and perfectly executed small plates. Four stars from Leslie Brenner doesn't hurt, either.

Boxwood Tap + Grill

Just opened in the old TABC space, Boxwood's got the hottest new patio in town, a menu of unique cocktails (think frozen Cuba Libres and pitchers of ginger caipirinhas), and food that aims considerably higher than your typical bar fare, like a prosciutto and melon salad, bourbon-glazed pork chop, and a Peticolas beer-battered fish po'boy.

Cock and Bull

Don't waltz into this neighborhood pub expecting wings and nachos. Instead you'll find chef-driven dishes like seared venison with grilled Texas peaches and bay scallop gratin with prosciutto and garlic-parmesan cream.

Dallas Beer Kitchen

This new Lower Greenville spot from the bloggers at Best Damn Things offers dozens of unique and hard-to-find beers on tap, plus dishes named after movies like the Thelma & Louise grilled cheese with bourbon bacon and the Big Lebowski burger with white Russian sauce.
Matt McCallister's farm-to-table cooking with a modernist slant makes this Design District hot spot one of the hottest tables in town, even nearly a year after its opening. Don't miss the housemade charcuterie.

Glazed Donut Works

This new Deep Ellum doughnut shop is hot, hot, hot, serving long lines of early birds with donuts like The Elvis Killer, Achocolypse Now and a killer vegan banana-pecan cake doughnut. Grab a cold-brew coffee for the perfect (if not most healthy) breakfast.

Mot Hai Ba

The new Lakewood Vietnamese spot from Good 2 Go Taco chefs Jeana Johnson and Colleen O'Hare is hot, hot, hot, serving up pho and banh mi at lunchtime and dishes like fried frog's legs and Shaking Beef at dinner.

Mutts Canine Cantina

If the idea of noshing on breakfast tacos or a burger while watching your dog socialize appeals to you, head to this new Uptown spot where canines are just as welcome as humans.

Pakpao Thai

The new Thai spot from the owners of Oak is serving up some things you'd expect (pad Thai, satays) as well as some you wouldn't (deep-fried hard boiled eggs with tamarind sauce) alongside creative cocktails and handmade sodas in exotic flavors like jasmine and lemongrass.

Spoon Bar & Kitchen

Recent Top Chef contestant John Tesar continues to draw crowds to his newest and best restaurant to date, where he's pushing the seafood envelope with dishes like smoked eel head cheese and black truffle and oyster stew. The addition of talented pastry chef David Collier is shaking up the dessert menu.

The Slow Bone

Jack Perkins' new barbecue joint is serving up massive platters of smoky, tender brisket, 2 kinds of ribs, fabulous housemade sausage, and down-home sides like hush puppies and cauliflower-Brussels sprout au gratin.

Village Kitchen

This Village Marquee replacement is more casual and family-friendly (and less expensive), with a wide-ranging menu that includes everything from Pecan Lodge brisket flatbread to tuna tartare, plus nightly specials like chicken and waffles. Finish off your meal with a Fruity Pebbles milkshake.

Zoli's NY Pizza Tavern

This new O.C. spot from Jay Jerrier couldn't be more different than Cane Rosso, but it might be just as good. Grab a slice of Grandma, Sicilian or classic New York-style pie, and don't forget to try the zucchini fries with housemade jalapeno ranch.
